In Music this week, Year 6 have been exploring traditional African music as part of their curriculum. The children have been introduced to Shosholoza – a well-known South African work song that carries themes of rhythm, unity, and resilience.
As part of their learning, the pupils have been practising the accompaniment on the glockenspiel, carefully keeping time with the beat and working together to create a harmonious sound. This gave them the chance to develop their musical skills in rhythm, timing, and performance, while also broadening their understanding of how music reflects different cultures and histories.
The classroom was filled with energy and focus as pupils listened carefully to one another, ensuring their parts blended together to support the melody. It was fantastic to see so much teamwork and confidence shining through.
Well done, Y6!
